This is my single car garage turned into full time wood shop. I have maxed my capacity long ago but still able to manage. Hopefully I will soon be able to build a new attached 28 x 32 building for a new shop. The current shop will then be used as a finishing and assembly room. But until then I am making due.

Thank you all. The jointer is a 2hp 60B powermatic. The odd looking things on the out feed table are some European deer skull mounts (i think thats what he called them) that my friend requested me to build.

I have 2 6″ main duct lines coming together to make one 6″ pipe coming in 5′ from the collector hookup. it runs to all machines with 5″ and 4″ drops. It does work really well.

  Thanks for the info on the dust collection. Reason for the questions is that my dust collection is made up of 3 shop vacs at the moment .. which unit do you use? how many ft of duct work do you have?

    I purchased the Central Machinery Brand sold at Harbor Freight. My friend had one as a substitute hooked only to his tablesaw and shaper. It worked so well and had plenty of power at 2hp that i purchased and ran HVAC 6″ main the length of my shop(32ft) and it works very well. Could not really see the need to upgrade to cyclone even though i have really been wanting one. I did the test to hold a piece of paper a foot away from ends of every hook up all around the shop and it pulls the paper on every one of them 12″ away. For the price and work it does it really was a bargain.

That looks great. Nice use of space. I’ve got a one-car space as well… 12’x22′. Somehow I don’t know how I’d fit all those machines in mine.

Very nice workshop. Well equipped and looks very functional. I saw a dust collector pipe on the floor to the tablesaw. In most of the workshop tours and pictures I saw it seem to always be this pipe which is dangerously running on the floor. I will have the same issue when I will install permanent piping in my garage.

I have a question for you Marc – How did you installed your tablesaw dust collection pipe? I’m currious to know!

  I solved this issue in my 12’x25′ shop by making the TS a peninsula rather than an island. My 6″ jointer is low enough that it doesn’t interfere with TS (at least after I removed a handle on the fence anyway) so it sits out on the outside side of the TS and I can run the power cords and DC right to the wall with no issues. What I find with this setup is I get one wider aisle around the TS instead of two narrow aisles. It took a while to get used to, but I got more usable space and it was actually easier to move around with the wider aisle. Having the jointer right next to the TS is really nice. I’ve gotten so used to it that even if I did have a large shop I would probably keep this arrangement.

  I do plan to do the step by step build and document it. But it definitly will not be as good and organized as Marc’s. I will share all of my ideas and hope to gather some information from all of you guys as well.

Hi Brent. Looks like you enjoy your space. I have a similar table saw to yours and am about to build the outfeed table and was also thinking of a router table where you have an insert built to the right hand side of your TS. Is that something you had considered as well but went with the free standing router table?

  I actually did have the same set-up you are talking about several times. first with craftsmen router extension and second one home made. The thing i did not like was i always had to remove router fence when using saw or used saw fence but never could use at same time. it did save a little space but to me it did not out way the benefit of having a seperate router table with everything together and stored all in the same cabinet. Bits, featherboards, routers jigs, etc… It would really be your own preference but i just did not like it as well but alot of people do have it that way. I use the router a ton!
