Even though it is small, it is the best shop I have ever had in 30 years of business relocations. I utilize it for woodworking and writing fiction. I am trying to master all of the facets of the craft.

I bought the Shopsmith and reconditioned it. It was made in 1954. I was made in 1952.

Looks like a happy place to be! While I like the same outfeed flipstand you have, I think a short outfeed table would be even better (reserving the flipstand for only the longest rips)

Nice to see someone with a Mark V. Not very often do I see one of these units in a shop. For a hobbist I feel like this a great machine. Drawback to me are having to re-adjust settings all the time and having to maintain the speed dial. Other than that it gets me through. I did notice in earlier shows of New Yankee Workshop, Norm was using a shopsmith. I thought that was strange. I hope to replace it someday when I have the room for larger machines and funds. Thanks for sharing pictures of your shop.

Nice shop— thanks for sharing! From the exterior view it appears that you would have space issues inside but the drywall really opens it up and gives a nice appearance of room.
Wouldn’t mind a space like that at all!

Nice looking shop! I too have a 1954 Shopsmith I inherited from my Dad early last year, (I was made in 1957!). Due to the fact that it hadn’t been used for years, I was hesitant about firing it up, and since I didn’t want to go through the hassle of breaking it down and cleaning it up, I went ahead and bought the PowerPro headstock from Shopsmith. I’m going to build a stand for the old headstock and keep it around in memory of my father.
