The Wall-Hanging Cabinet

This winter, the Wood Whisperer Guild embarked on yet another Guild Build: The Wall-Hanging Cabinet. This particular project was designed to go in my bathroom but the design could certainly be adapted to any storage task, including acting as a tool cabinet for the shop. The video series covers two versions of the cabinet: one is made with solid wood and traditional joinery, and the other is made from edge-banded plywood and pocket screws. There’s truly something for everyone!

Beautiful cabinet with spectacular grain! The only thing I would change would be the handle. For a project of this quality I would have expected a custom handle made out of a contrasting wood.

  Truthfully, this was an attempt to bring in some elements of my bathroom. Plus I felt the cabinet was a little “busier” in terms of wood grain than I initially wanted, so adding a wood handle wasn’t all that appealing to me. So those two things combined led me to the metal hardware.

The quilted maple really pops, nice to see it didn’t go to sacrificial fences;)

I joined the Guild two or three months ago and have watched most of the old videos. The scope and depth of the the information is absolutely great. For those of you that may be on the fence regarding joining my opinion is it is very much worth the cost. I have learned allot and have put some of it in practice on my current project, a pencil post bed. Without a tip from one of the guild videos I’m sure I would be in a box on the head board mortices.

My free guild membership just expired. Marc hooked me up with the membership after I won the monthly prize drawing. I won a custom bandsaw blade, but had no bandsaw to put it on. Now after six months of saving my bandsaw is on its way. Hooray!!!!!! Now I can’t afford to renew membership. I would have renewed in a heartbeat if I didn’t just make a major purchase that drained my woodworking funds. Great content with a cool community.

The wood whisperer has made me want to get into woodworking. This looks like something I would LOVE to do but sadly I still live in an apartment.

As many of you know, I built a piece called Gretchin’s Cradle. It was my first foray into fine woodworking. I learned the majority of the skills I used in the Guild videos and the increased personal attention you receive being a Guild member. It was an ambitious first build that I don’t believe I could have accomplished or would even attempted without the aide of The Woodwhisperer Guild. I’m happy to report that Gretchin’s Cradle has just been accepted for publishing in the Reader’s Gallery of FineWoodworking magazine. I credit Marc, his Guild and the fine community he has built for this accomplishment. Thanks, Marc!!!

The woodwhisperer guild is a great woodworking school. I’m a guild member for about 9 months. A lot of useful information, techniques, projects. If you have woodworking question Im sure you will find it here. Especially I like one on one assistance.Very quick answer to my questions every time(no longer then 2 min).Amazing detailed videos.
