My wife kicked me out of the garage so we purchased another home with a larger lot and I built my 2-story 800 square foot shop. The first floor has most of my non portable tools and wood storage. My Second floor has my library, duct collection, scroll saw and my mortise machine. I also store the items I will be selling at Christmas time.

The shop is heated in the winter with a pellet stove and in the summer cooled down with a 12000 btu ac unit.

Great job. I am getting there with mine. A 12×24 two story as well. building is up and weather tight. Doing the wiring and insulation/inside panelling myself as money becomes available. Taken almost 10 years to get this far, but am getting it done. That poor old Shopsmith needs a new belt, but will be up and running soon.

Very nice, I like the layout. Are you able to use the Table Saw Fence when you use your Router? A big space saver by combining TS and Router cabinet.

Careful Bruce!! You are making it easier for your wife to kick you to the shop. :-) Don’t install the single bed and bath out there. Seriously, nice job!!

One suggestion Bruce. Paint the inside of your shop with gloss white enamel paint. I get mine from the recycle place. You will have so much more light and the gloss paint doesn’t hold the dust as a flatter paint would.

I’m looking to spend 3 months in NZ but I will sorely miss my garage shop to build stuff for myself and the grand kids. I have no particular city in mind as I just have to get away from the sick, crazy USA until the dust settles after the election. Does anyone know whether I can rent space in a commercial or private shop to continue my works? Any city is OK.
