Mobile Tool Stand- Quick & Easy!

My new shop space isn’t far from my house (about 10 minutes), but it would be nice to have some basic woodworking tools at home for those little DIY projects and basic builds. So my plan is to start outfitting the garage with various tools as I acquire them. I have a nice Oliver lunchbox planer and in order to use it comfortably, I need some kind of stand. So I came up with a simple design that makes use of 2×4’s, 1×4’s, and casters. You can download the plans below if you’d like to build one for yourself.

Great timing, Mark. I recently purchased a FoxAlien Masuter Pro CNC to dip my toes into the CNC world without having to take out a second mortgage on my house, and was going to spend this weekend designing a table for its permanent home. This will save me quite a bit of time, all I need to do is lengthen the aprons and shelf slats by a few inches, and assemble it the same way you did.

Greetings from Vermont Marc. Perfect timing. My wife and I bought a wood (or gas) fired pizza oven last week and as I contemplated shelling out way to much for their custom made cart I happened to visit your website and there it was, the perfect solution. Made it out of cedar and will leave it unfinished as I like the gray patina cedar takes on after exposure to the weather. I took some pictures but don’t see a way to attach them.

If you and the family are ever in Vermont, stop by and I’ll make you a pie.

Just what I needed and quick to build. My new planer will look great on it. Just gonna have to wait til it starts warning up. Unheated garage is just too cold for me right now.

I made one sort of like that a few years ago — i called mine the Prancing Poodle Planer Platform, because that was sort of what it looked like.

What are the 4-inch screws for that are listed in the material list for this project?

  Pretty much any 4-inch screw you want to use.I used Spax screws.

    Did you use them to construct the sides or did you use them to attach the casters? I am just trying to figure out what you used them for.
    
    I plan to replicate your build using pocket holes, so I believe I won’t need screws that long but just wanted to check.
