John’s Featherboard Jig

I put my router into the extension table for my saw and needed a way to use featherboards along with my Incra Fence. The featherboards needed to have a wide range of widths and the extension table wouldn’t support a magnetic base type. I had a couple of plastic featherboards that didn’t even fit this saw, so I mounted them on a piece of scrap, then clamped the jig to the saw fence and used that to hold then material against the Incra Fence on the router.

Really cool, but… if I’m seeing that right, with a setup like that you always have to stand to the infeed side of the router fence? You can’t ever face the router fence? Is that awkward to work with?
If so, in the spirit of safety week, is it safe to have to reach across the router bit like that?

It doesn’t look to me like you would have to stand on the infeed side; but I would not like reaching over the table saw fence and that clap seems to be really in the way.

Just an idea, you may want to replace your clamp with 2 of the fence clamps (Rockler) or the same type. Eliminating the chance of a clamp interferring with your operation. Just my .02.
