Super Mario wall hanging made out of leopardwood, maple, walnut and red oak. 170 total pixels, each 1″ x 1″ with a 45 degree bevel on all four sides to add depth and attention to every piece.

Project is mounted on red oak plywood and framed with walnut. I finished it with a blend of boiled linseed oil and polyurethane.

That’s hilarious! Well done. Can we expect to find others from the Mario Kingdom? Luigi? Toad? Bowser? Or even cross game consoles and see Sonic the Hedgehog?

What method(s) did you use to cut the squares and make the bevels?

I hereby second Bill’s question. I am a little bit curious myself about how you cut the pieces then beveled them. Bandsaw followed by router?

Thanks guys!! All the pieces were ripped to 1″ strips on the tablesaw and then I used my sled and a stop block to crosscut them. Since the pieces are small you need to use the eraser end of a pencil to hold them down while doing this. All of the bevels were made on my disc sander. I set the table to 45° and drew a line on the table to know how far to sand. Sanding 680 bevels was not fun but definitely worth it.
