CJ’s Greene & Greene Styled Bookcase

This is an original Greene & Greene inspired bookcase. It was my first attempt at a true piece of furniture.

The project started with a gift of a couple of boards of hard maple from a family friend. I felt I had to do something special with them.

I have recently been inspired by Greene & Greene and hope to take a tour of the Gamble house in the very near future. I began with some simple sketches and eventually developed it in AutoCAD to fine tune critical dimensions and details.

I used through mortise and tenon joinery for the shelves, and finger joints on the base, all finished off with ebony plugs and inlays. I used General Finishes Dye Stain–2 parts orange and 3 parts medium brown.
