Almost before I realized what was happening, I found myself fully engaged in phase 2 of my garage to shop conversion. 2x4s were purchased, nails were driven, and organization was born!

Here’s a rundown of some of the products mentioned in the video. Unfortunately, it looks like some of these are unavailable or discontinued.

This is very good timing for me. I’ve just moved and am working on building my new basement shop. I’ve previously used 1/2″ ply on the bottom of the shop walls and pegboard over the top half with 2×4 studs and insulation behind (a garage shop) but I’m now looking at the T1-11 as an alternative to this arrangement. I also covered up the garage doors with functional walls with a human door and window.

I may do some of the same things in the new shop, but you’ve given me cause to reconsider some of my decisions to date. Thanks for the useful and informative video.

Never thought of framing out one of my garage doors for wall space. Crap! Now I have to build that. Great use of space. Thanks for the idea.

Building a 2 car garage now to use as my novice woodshop. Question about the t1-11 – Would you have just skipped the drywall all together and just insulated and used the T1-11 Board?

  Yes I would. As long as it’s up to code, that’s probably the best way to go about it. Just have to be concerned about fire rating and all that jazz.

    Hi Marc, curious if you sanded the siding before applying the danish oil? I tried wiping on to a scrap piece and it soaks it in to point that it comes out much darker than yours. Thanks

      I sanded it quickly and roughly just to knock the splintery stuff off, but that’s about it.

how did you install the siding around the power panel and electrical outlets? the outlets might be extended out but the power panel I’m not sure about?

I love the Incra Dust collection for the router. It was easy to install and works so much better than expected. Routing creates massive dust and that add-on is very helpful. FYI – It works on just about any router table.

Just curious what you do for spraying finishes. How do you keep the overspray away from the shop tools, assuming you can’t spray outside that is since it’s snowing in Colorado

Is your T1-11 1/2″? Im thinking about doing the same for my tool wall, but I’m not sure if that would be enough holding strength. That said, if yours is 1/2″, I’m sure I would be fine. Thanks!
