The base of this large table features a criss-cross design that does away with two of the aprons you’d find in a typical table base. I honestly wasn’t sure if it would work and the only way to find out was to build one. Hi Marc,

Clearly (based on my questions in your table videos :-)) I am building a dining table. Our table is going to be 96″ and 42″ wide and mid century modern. We will seat up to 8 folks and my question is – will the crisscross legs interfere with the chairs towards the end of the table? I would also need to adjust the length of the crisscross legs as well – right?

  Hey Mike. I can’t really answer that accurately. I’d suggest mocking it up. All I can say for sure is that as designed, we don’t have issues with the legs getting in the way. But if you change the dimensions I would only be guessing.

Hi Marc,
For the criss-cross table, do you have a suggestion for leg angle dimensions for this table if I wanted to modify the plans to a shorter table length, 65” say?
I am not familiar with Sketchup and do not know how to calculate this change, but I am in LOVE with this table.

  I actually don’t know how to calculate it either. Most of this design was developed from drawings and mockups and then deciding what looks and feels right. So it might be best for you to do the same, perhaps using some scrap or even cardboard just to mock it up.
