Multi-Function Mobile Cart For Festool MFT

Festool makes some great tools and accessories but they are usually geared toward the mobile craftsperson. One such tool that has been a game-changer for me in terms of how I process sheet goods is the Multi-Function Table or MFT. The unit is loaded with work-holding features but because it needs to be mobile, it’s fairly light and features fold-out legs similar to a card table. I really wanted something more stable. Furthermore, there are a lot of tools and accessories that go hand in hand with the MFT and it would be nice to have storage for those things right next to the MFT. With all of this in mind, I designed my Multi-Function Cart for Festool MFT.

While this cart is obviously purpose-built for the MFT, it’s also quite useful for non-Festool woodworkers. It can easily function as a mobile assembly table, a mobile work cart, or you can raise the height a bit and have a very serviceable outfeed table.

I love this idea. I use my mft as my primary work bench due to limited space. It’s not stable and I’m always running back and forth to get clamps, pencils, etc. Question….could this be built with dominos instead of the dados? I just don’t like cutting dados.

Quick question …. does this cart maintain the MFT table at the same height as it would if you were using the MFT on its own with the legs unfolded? I ask because I use my MFT as an outfeed table for my table saw which sits on a shop made mobile cart. I built that cart to keep the the table saw at the same height as the MFT.

  I wasn’t too concerned about that so didn’t allow for it. The table height ended up around 34 1/2″. If you’re building something like this, you’ll want to do the calculations based on the casters you use and modify the plans accordingly.

Trying to download pdf. Cutlist/Plan will not download. All the rest of the sketchup and metric Cutlist download fine. Anybody else have this issue? thank you!

When I built your guild chop saw station (which is awesome) in the plans you had dimensions for the height to make a jig to screw in the slides for drawers. Do you have them for this some where? thank you! Your work is greatly appreciated.

I finished the build. Putting the drawers in at the right height was humbling but it all worked. Thank you great idea to build this functional cart.

I want to modify this plan to build two separate cabinets, one for each of my MFT tables. The plan is to make the footprint the same as the tables so I can use as outfeed /infeed or put them together for an assembly table. Has anyone done something like that? I am fairly new at this but wondering why you used dado cuts instead of Domino? I have the Domino 500 and made a cabinet for my Dewalt contractor saw with 3/4″ plywood using 6 by 40 dominos

  I don’t need space for my CT 26 because I bought the CT workcenter for extra organization and “hose management” :) so I believe I can build in drawers and shelves even while making the foot print smaller

The use of the toggle clamp is real genius.

Just bought the plans – downloaded no problems.

Have enjoyed your videos – you are an excellent teacher.

I will be doing the dadoes and rabbets with a router, so some advice on that would be appreciated.

Hi Mark,
Question..You have always had a state of the art Cabinet Saw. Do you still use your track saw with your Mft/3? Or just as a clamping station for Sanding etc.

  I actually don’t use my MFT much at all. I still use the track saw all the time but for whatever reason, I’ve found other solutions to the jobs the MFT does.
