Bread Box w/ Marc Spagnuolo Begins

Bread boxes are making a comeback! While they fell out of favor as consumers moved toward less healthful bread options with longer shelf lives, in 2019 people are all about FRESH healthy bread. And there’s no better way to store fresh bread than in a breadbox. The box provides temperature and humidity control to keep the bread from drying out too quickly or getting moldy. Our design will be a fun exercise in through mortise and tenon joinery, sculpting curves, hinge installation, and getting creative within the confines of a relatively small package.

Under Workbench Cabinet w/ Marc Spagnuolo Begins

Most workbenches feature a base that leaves a lot of open and unused space under the bench. Marc’s Split-Top Roubohas a shelf on the bottom that pretty much only serves as a place to collect junk. That’s why he’s going to build a handy storage cabinet that gives him a great place to store tools without getting in the way of bench’s moving parts. While this unit will be custom-designed to fit the Split-Top Roubo, we suspect it won’t be too difficult to modify it for just about any workbench design.

Spindle Turning w/ Ashley Harwood Begins

This video series begins with the fundamentals of spindle turning. It breaks down each cut into a simple combination of motions, addressing things like stance, speed, grip, tool rest position, and chucking. Using these cuts and techniques, we will make several projects – a candlestick, sea urchin ornament with a fine finial, and table legs. We will discuss spindle design and how to turn from a pattern or drawing to create multiples of the same design. We will also discuss ways to improve speed and work flow.

  • Tools and Sharpening

Nesting Tables w/ Marc Spagnuolo Begins

Years ago, Nicole (Marc’s wife) came home with a crappy set of nesting tables from Home Goods. The design inspired Marc to build a reimagined set of tables that feature an Asian influence and proper joinery. These tables will work as occasional tables, plant stands, or simply used as weapons to crush the old crappy tables into pieces.
