Sand paper wrapped in a large dowels can also reach places that the sanding strip may not.

Hey, just a tip on the CA glue…If you want it to last forever you don’t need to seal it tight. You need to keep it *DRY*.

CA doesn’t cure by evaporation. It actually cures by reacting with the water in the air. So the best thing to do is to fill the bottom of a jar with a dessicant (I use this: http://www.amazon.com/gp/produ.....#038;psc=1), put the CA glue in there with the cap OFF, and close up the lid of the jar.

For even more preservation, put the whole thing in the freezer too. That will slow down any remaining reaction that’s happening. Just be sure to let the whole thing warm up before you open the jar, otherwise you’ll get condensation on the inside of the glass jar, which defeats the whole purpose.

I have a 200 yr old Hickory beam, 27 feet long, approx 9″x9″, exposed on 3 sides in my home. Its hand hewn and the surface is rough (UNDERSTATEMENT) and I would like to put a finish on it to enhance the beauty. The beam is inside the home in my great room. Anything put on it would have to be thin and put on with a brush. Any suggestions in enhancing the grain and wood, not covering anything up…thank you.

My daughter has a frame that fell and broke. The break is a clean one and she just wants to glue it. It’s a really light frame and the inside seams to look like some kind of foam or something. I googled light weight frames and come up polystyrene. I’m not sure this correct. My question is what kind of glue do I use to glue this and out of curiosity is polystyrene correct?

  Not sure on the polystyrene but both epoxy and polyurethane glues are pretty good for joining different materials. I’d go with 5 minute epoxy myself.
