Woodworking in America

Move over wood shows, there’s a new woodworking event in town. Normites and Powertool Junkies need not apply! Actually that’s not true because I am going, and I am not exactly worthy of the title “Neanderthal”. Woodworking in America - Hand Tool & Technique Conference is taking place Nov. 14th-16th in Berea, KY and is brought to you by the folks at Popular Woodworking and Woodworking Magazine. This unique event brings craftsmen and toolmakers together for hands-on workshops, exclusive demos, expert techniques and much more. You can expect to see some rather well-known personalities there as well, including Roy Underhill, Frank Klausz, Michael Dunbar, Adam Cherubini, James Blauvelt, Robin Lee, Thomas Lie-Nielsen, Larry Williams and Don McConnell, John Economaki, Konrad Sauer, Wayne Anderson, Ron Hock, Mike Wenzloff, Joel Moskowitz, Clarence Blanchard, Brian Boggs, and David Jeski.
And you might be interested in knowing that this will be an opportunity to meet some of your favorite bloggers and podcasters. In addition to myself, it has been rumored that folks like Matt Vanderlist from Matt’s Basement Workshop, Kari Hultman from The Village Carpenter, Kaleo Kala from Kaleo’s Workshop, and Neil Lamens from Furnitology.com will be in attendance. I don’t know about you guys, but I’ll be wearing my fancy sneakers for this star-studded event!
If you are interested in attending, please visit WoodworkinginAmerica.com and sign up for the conference’s newsletter. You’ll then be the among the first to be notified about registration and pricing for this event.

Got something to say?

That sounds awesome. I am only a couple hours away and can’t wait to attended. For all those not familiar with Berea College, it has a very nice blue track that I use to run on.
Excellent. Hope it’s an annual event!
The build up to this is intense. I hope registration opens soon! I feel like Eric Cartman waiting for his Nitendo Wii. With limited attendance, I hope no one gets hurt in the mad rush to sign up.
Oh man, you were supposed to wield your influence, such as it is, and have them produce a show out here too.
So, while you are out there, bend some ears. I’ll even sign a petition that you can give them to prove there is a customer base out here.
Once you have done that take some pictures. :)
I’m looking forward to this so my fingers are crossed that I’ll be able to make it. Though this would mean that I’d miss the beautiful November weather here on the blustery Atlantic Coast of Eastern Canada… LOL!
Champing at the bit (no pun intended) for this one. It’s rare that a major woodworking event takes place in my neck of the woods, Cincinnati, and Berea will be beautiful in the fall so I won’t have to feel bad about dragging the wife along. The more I fiddle with hand tools the more I’m intrigued and want to learn more about using them properly to augment my power tool work.
Plus the chance to meet the fabulous Mssrs. Spagnuolo and Vanderlist just can’t be passed up.
Finally you’ve decided to visit my wonderful state….Famous Daves is on me… :)
The official Woodworking in America website says that registration will be in June. Well, … it’s almost July. Any update on when we’ll be able to register. I’d hate to find out the day ‘after’ all the slots have filled.
