New DVD – Wood Whisperer Guild Best of 2009
If you aren’t familiar, The Wood Whisperer Guild is the premium membership section of our site. And with over 500 active members, we are continually surprised at the popularity of the program. But despite this success, I realize that many folks either don’t have the means to pay for a membership, or simply aren’t interested in joining a membership site. Completely understandable. So to help accommodate these folks, I have assembled a two-disc DVD set containing 15 videos and over 5 1/2 hours of Guild content, called “The Wood Whisperer Guild Best of 2009″. Click the image to the left to view the DVD packaging, and you’ll see a list of the video topics. And as a special bonus, I am including a handy shop reference card that contains a ton of helpful information as well a special discount code for joining the Guild.
The DVD’s are coming in early next week, but we are having a special 10% OFF pre-order sale. So act now to take advantage of the lower price. As soon as the DVDs arrive, the price goes back up. And just a heads up, existing Guild members can purchase this DVD for 50% OFF the regular price in the Guild Store.

Great idea Marc! The DVD slip looks beautiful too. Maybe have a collector’s or deluxe edition with an included sanding strip? :P
Did you do that packaging layout and design? That is very well done! I’m impressed.
We are fortunate to be working with our buddy, John Funk. He is the man behind our current branding and graphical elements. I am always amazed at his ability to “nail” the exact look I want for our products.
By the way, we do plan on making a new “Best of” video every year. Notice the little dovetail on the spine? Eventually, with a few DVDs from the collection, you’ll have a continuous series of dovetails at the top and bottom. Very cool idea John came up with.
The dovetails must have been made with a router… they’re kinda fat :) Then again, if you used, say, my hand-cut dovetails, there’s be a big enough gap for the disc to fall out so good call…
Glad you hear everyone is diggin’ the design. Hat goes off to Marc for making fantastic content and being so easy to work with. I have to admit, I can’t wait to hold [the finished product] in my hands though.

Hey Marc, I am not a guild member (yet) but really enjoy the videos you put out on your site; and have purchased your A Simple Varnish Finish DVD. As far as videos go, how does the Best of 2009 DVD compare with the content that is available go guild members? Being a “Best of” is there less content on the DVD than would be available if I joined the guild?

Hi Stan. A good portion of the videos from the Guild made it onto the DVD, but certainly not all. You can see the full current list of videos on the Guild sales page: http://thewoodwhisperer.com/tww-guild/
In addition to those other videos, we have a full years worth of live demos and interviews for you to check out. And of course, a membership brings you all the new content that will be coming out over the course of your subscription as well as access to all the build-a-longs and live events.
Cool, thanks Marc! Looks like I will be joining the guild! One other question, if I join the guild, will I have access to all previously available material, or will I have to purchase the 2009 DVD and then have access to guild material going forward?
