I would like to give a warm welcome to a new sponsor: Rockler Woodworking & Hardware.

If you aren’t familiar with Rockler, they are one of the most well-known woodworking retailers in the industry. It wasn’t long after I started woodworking that I discovered my local Rockler stores. I lived in Temecula, CA at the time and I had two options: either traveling north to Ontario or south to the San Diego store. Both trips took about an hour but the Ontario store was near the Ontario Mills Mall. PERFECT! Nicole would get lost in her retail heaven and I would get lost in mine. I would literally walk each and every aisle several times, just soaking it all in. I am not exaggerating when I say these trips were “events” that I always looked forward to.
Since then, I have relied on Rockler countless times for hardware, finishes, and all kinds of supplies. And now that my business model has changed, I am fortunate enough to do business with them in a slightly different way. We have been a Rockler affiliate for years now and just recently, Rockler began offering a 10% discount to Wood Whisperer Guild members.
As many of you know, without sponsorship relationships with companies like Powermatic and Rockler, I wouldn’t be able to provide as much free content as I do. So I hope you will join me in welcoming Rockler to our little family.

I am very fortunate to have a Rockler within a 30 minute drive of the house. The product selection at the SW Freeway Rockler in Houston is fantastic, pricing is usually competitive, but best of all, the staff is friendly and HELPFUL. The sort of service you come to expect from small town old school hardware stores. Need a special fitting not in stock? They are happy to special order stuff in for you. Not entirely sure what you need? They have the knowledge and experience to get you what you need, and get you started…
Having Rockler sponsor one of my favorite Woodworking websites only reinforces for me who my supplier will continue to be…
Three cheers for Rockler, now all they need is a store in the UK and we’ll be set….
Congratulations to both Rockler and the Wood Whisperer !! Not to sound greedy but when can we expect one in Canada ??
Congrats on picking up Rockler as a sponser. They are as reputable and innovative a company as your site is…I guess that would mean you too. Keep up the great work.
Fantastic news for both TheWoodWhisperer and Rockler. They are probably my ‘go to’ place when it comes to my woodworking needs, and they have some fantastic sales….even the infamous ‘Black Friday’ type sales where I play driver and overall ‘present mule’ for my wife and her family. As my payment I get to be at Rockler at 9am when they open!
Rockler is awesome and good for you on getting them as a sponsor. They are always helpful and are very innovative. Bench Cookies are great.
It is funny, you traveled to Ontario Mills (California) to go to Rockler and your wife to the mall. I live in Ontario (Canada) and travel south so I can go to the malls and my husband visit Rockler.:-)
My husband likes a lot your page, posts and etc, and of course I am a very supportive wife that sometimes also check your site.
Rockler is an incredible store, customer service is excellent, and even though I am not a woodworker I enjoy going with my husband so he can buy his things. They are always friendly and most important to me, they have a stool in front of the cashier for us the “other” to wait until purchase is finished (normally more than 2 hours) :-)
Congratulations to both and as Rozz Vegas said: When is Rockler coming to Canada?
I’m about 15 miles or 20 minutes from Rockler. Being new to woodworking, I have not visited the store yet. However, I’ll be reminded every day now since I go to TWW site daily.
It’s also good to hear so many good recommendations for Rockler in the messages above.
Is there something we can do to let Rockler know we are buying from them as a result of being a sponsor. I have a local Rockler I buy from. I would rarely cilck throught the site and hit any kind of purchase or sponsor counters they may have setup.

Looks like a click on the Rockler logo under “Proud to be Sponsored By:” would take you to the Rockler website and give credit to our favorite Wood Whisperer. The link has sid=AFN86 as part of the link. Marc, is that correct?
Yup that’s correct Mattias. Any link on our home page has that little tag on it and will we will get credit for the sale. As far as the local stores are concerned, I am not sure there is anything that can be done for that.
[repeating myself from FB]
When you live out in the boonies, companies with a decent web presence are your lifeline… I type “L” in my browser, and it KNOWS I want Lee Valley… I just wish Rockler was here in Canada, the shipping and duty is a killer unless something is DEEPLY on sale…
Marc, congrats on adding Rockler as a sponsor. I know that I enjoy all the things I have ordered from Rockler. Like others, I wish I had a store in my area in central Arkansas.
I have a few Rockler stores about 2 1/2 hrs from me and the one I go to when ever I get a chance, which is not very often, some of the staff remembers me, and I am not a big spender either!! That shows the kind of place they are, not only a sales place, but a passion orientated place as well. I have had questions on a few things and it can turn into an hour long talk about everything woodworking!! They are also the store where the rest of the stores around send their clearance items, and that can be a goldmine of savings:) Congrats to both Rockler and TWW, and the Guild discount pays for my shipping!!
great company
they are nice and have one good catalog
glad to see em as your new sponsor
—————–
just one complain about em
most of the time they charge ship and handing
because I am in Brazil, I am charged twice!
charged to US and to my country?
not some shipping upgrade – really 2 times
dunno why they do it, but that’s the rule (bad one)
not good for international customers
That Rockler store in Houston is about 120 miles away for me, but I try to stop in when I am in the neighborhood – which is 3 or 4 times a year.
Marc, that’s great news. Rockler should be a perfect fit as a sponsor; they can equip a woodworker from rookie to accomplished. Look out for those clamp sales.
The website is good, but there is no substitute to talking with real people and picking up a tool. I try to visit Rockler whenever I travel close to a store. There is a store in Asheville NC, but that’s too far from the Triangle area. Rockler you’re reading this, please consider a store around Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill. How about Morrisville somewhere? Lots of woodworking going on around here…
While Rockler may not have been the original source of my desire to work with wood, they have definately been there to keep this desire burning bright. I have noticed that my urge to create has waned slightly, since they have closed the store in my area.
I miss going into those aisles filled with goodies and toys begging to be purchased and used in furniture, walking down aisles with tears in my eyes at all the lovely new ideas just waiting for me to open the cover and learn, and the aroma of wood just wafting gently on the air-conditioned currents of the store….
OK, I’m better now. But, as dylder asked, is there something we can show or mention to the retail stores when we visit in person, instead of on line? (Got your Wood Whisperer Membership Card handy?)
Thanks to a great sponsor and their support of a great website!
My Father and I often walked the aisles of the Ontario Mills Rockler store while my Mom did her mall shopping. The Ontario area also has a ton of tool stores, lumberyards, millwork suppliers, etc. They all come in very handy.
Sounds like a great partnership. My nearest Rockler is nearly 2 hours away, but the UPS trucks know the route to my house quite well…So well that they’ve learned I prefer my packages left back by the garage door rather then at my front door.
I can relate to wondering the isles or Rockler…I was like that when I finally had a chance to visit the WoodSmith store in Des Moines. I had to continually explain to the employees that I wasn’t looking for anything, just enjoying the sights. :-)
