The Wood Whisperer takes a ride on the iPhone!
June 30, 2007 | Filed Under Blog
I am sure most of you are aware that the Apple iPhone was released yesterday. Hundreds of crazy people lined up at AT&T and Apple stores for hours just to get their hands on this overpriced piece of technological candy. Just to clarify, if I wasn’t currently committed to Verizon, I most likely would have been one of those crazy people. But apparently I’m not the only Apple fan boy in The Wood Whisperer community. Brian in Texas sent me this picture and I just had to post it. Look ma!! I’m in the iPhone!!

Got something to say?

The jealousy is overwhelming, but I am digging the lightbox effects for the images.
hey Marc, this thing is awesome, I got mine last night no lines though, I just walked in the apple store around 11.30pm and waited 5 minutes.
what a nice phone. time for you to switch
Sascha. Can you watch TWW videos on the iPhone or can it only access YouTube videos?
If Im not mistaken, you should be able to watch all video podcasts through ITunes. But as far as I know, regular web-based video will be limited. Anyone know for sure?
The phone looks cool but I just can’t commit to AT&T. Their service has been traditionally horrible and coverage lacks as well.
Good luck to those who have it. The phone sounds way cool…
Apple reccomends that it not be used in temeratures greater than 95F. The battery life(not consumer replaceable)is significantly shortened. So much for using it in the Phoenix summertime.
Hey Marc - Got mine on Saturday after all of the crazies in line got theirs. I was on Verizon - I can attest that everything that sucks about AT&T is majorly overcome by how incredible this phone is. Your video podcast is GREAT on iPhone. Shoot me a message if you want specifics - thanks for your site -also incredible and very inspiring! Wondering if Apple will make some upgrades to the iPhone - maybe a cardscraper attachment or planer accessory? :)
two more months and Verizon can kiss my ass goodbye! Sweet, sweet JesusPhone, here I come….
flash video is not supported on the iPhone, so many streaming website videos will have difficulty, unless Apple announces Flash support later this year (hopefully). Dunno if Marc’s streaming videos are flash, but I suspect they are. no idea about ustream’s technology and whether it will work (the shopcam), but my guess is no for now.
Good news is, all the iTunes podcasts will look better than ever–the new screen has twice the resolution (480 X 320) of the previous 5G iPod with Video (320 X 240), and probably around 3X the screen real estate. So both the website and the Vids (through itunes) are going to look awesome while I stand around waiting for the little missus to decide between the white skirt or the off-white skirt. (Shoot me now, please).
You Tube has committed to having all of their videos converted by the Fall from Flash to the iPhone-friendly H.264 codec, and I’m sure others will follow as iPhone presence grows. Between all of iTunes and YouTube, I can’t imagine running out of good video content anytime soon.
Beautiful pic, Marc–look forward to seeing you on an iPhone near me, soon.
Marc, you Mac-friendly maniac :)….just saw that your embedded videos are MP4’s (using a quicktime standard). If anything is going to stream right onto the iPhone, I bet it would be those. Would be nice to find out for sure, though. Looks like another trip down to the Apple store might be in order :)
Dude. Hilarious comments. To clarify, my vids are in MP4 format but the actual embedded video on the site is flash.
