The Wood Whisperer on TV???

One of the most common (and complimentary) comments I receive from viewers is, “You should be on TV!” The main reason I never pursued that route is because it would require making a whole new production that would come at the expense of the current web show. But thanks to our current technology and the more flexible scheduling of public access TV stations, our web show is being broadcast on TV in select markets. The shows are pretty much the same, but have been re-edited and formatted to look good on a non-HD channel.

We know that the shows are being downloaded by numerous TV stations in a number of markets, but it wasn’t until today that we actually saw “Wood Whisperer” listed in one of the station’s program guides! So on June 1st at 9pm, WOA-TV8 in Vermont aired our cutting board episode. So if you have public access channels in your area and you want to catch the show on TV, call or write your local stations and let them know you want to see The Wood Whisperer on the boob tube! The shows are available for the station to download at PegMedia.org.

Now I realize this isn’t HGTV or DIY, but I think its a pretty cool milestone for us. After all, how many shows from the web ever make it to TV in ANY capacity? As always, we appreciate the support of our friends, our fellow bloggers, and of course our viewers and readers. The community truly is the heart and soul of this operation.

I think that’s awesome Marc! I think you have a great video personality. I have a hard time finding good woodworking shows as it is. HGTV and DIY (and BHG) are all kitchen and bathroom remodeling, not an interest to me. I can see you making it big on television.

  3. WiZeR says:

Well done me old mukka. So…do they pay you for this ?

Very cool Marc. You definitely produce quality shows and deserve it. Just don’t let it go to your head and lose the magic formula you currently have. Keep up the good work.

  23. Joshua N says:

That’s awesome! Congrats to you and Nicole for all the hard work and sacrifice.

  24. Germain says:

That’s awesome, Marc. But you need a lady cohost. I think one of the big draws to your earliest podcasts was the fact Nicole was in them. Since Nicole is now too busy, you should find another cute and clever partner for the show. (No offense, Matt.)

  25. Terry says:

    Congrats Marc & Nichole!!

  26. John Bratton says:

You can also add Lincoln County, Maine to the list. Looks like you’re starting to get the Northeast and Northwest covered.

  31. kosta says:

wow thats crazy I never though that they would take any podcast and air it but good job

  32. Matt Petty says:

    Congratulations guys!

  33. Mike says:

WOW – that’s so cool Marc! I’ve been very busy lately(also moving!) and only have a few moments to check in these days. As a professional technician who works in TV at one of the big networks (and secretly wishes to be a pro woodworker), I have always thought you had what it takes to be the next Norm or David. Your informative & entertaining style are very refreshing – and I know how hard it is to put a professional quality show together. I’m always amazed at what you & Nicole are doing – just the 2 of you. It can take weeks and many people involved to what the big guys on TV are doing. Keep doing what your doing – you’ll get recognized by the right people in due time. Maybe we could all start a letter writing campaign to our local PBS station. All these type shows seem to be sponsored by one or another.
    Any thoughts??

    Mike

  34. Gary A says:

Nice man! I say they launch DIY in HD finally, and you are the featured launch show!

  35. Greg says:

    MArc:
It seems not too long ago I had stated this would happen and voila’ it has. Well deserved, may I add.

Please keep up the great work and it will be “move over Norm,” The Wood Whisperer is here.
