One of the great features of a Guild membership is having access to live interactive interviews with notable woodworkers and professionals in the industry. On December 7th, we had a chance to speak with David J. Marks. David Marks is an accomplished designer, furniture-maker, turner, and artist. He was the star of the Woodworks TV show on the DIY Network, which in my opinion, is some of the best woodworking programming ever made! And now David travels around the world teaching woodworking, as well as teaching in his very own school in Santa Rosa California.

David recently released his latest DVD, Bandsawn Veneers, which will show you how to dial-in your bandsaw for precision veneer cuts. This past April, we had to good fortune of visiting with the folks at Popular Woodworking in Cincinnati, OH. We got a bunch of footage at the Pop. WW’ing headquarters (including a quick interview with Glen Huey) as well as a tour of Chris Schwarz’s home. We capped the day off with an interview with Chris in his own shop. The unfortunate news is that one of our tapes had a fatal flaw in it. So the only recoverable footage was this interview with Chris. Many of you might already be familiar with Kaleo. He runs KaleosWorkshop.com and does the This Week in Wood Podcast. He is also recent graduate of the Australian School of Fine Furniture. And now that he’s back in the states he’s gearing up to start his own woodworking business. I was able to spend a whole afternoon with Kaleo and it was like hanging with an old friend. I decided to do a brief interview with him (this video) as well as have him show us a few rudimentary hand tool techniques (next video). Enjoy!
