Great story Zac, (though you probably didn’t think so at the time), and a very nice piece as a result. It always amazes me how much us woodworkers can do with very little in the way of equipment and very much in the way of enthusiasm.

I have recently acquired a few hundred board feet of South African Yellow Wood branches from the local dump. One day we’ll see what comes out of that save.

Absolutely Beautiful! Stunning! Truely a work of art! Your nephew should be really pleased!
I really apprecitated your write up about this piece. It inspired me. Especially the part about reclaiming the wood. You answered a question I have had about several old logs around my place which I have wondered about.
Your treatment of the subject proves once again that “Real woodworkers never make mistakes, they just have a change of approach!” The dolphins are an interesting “design feature” [as David Marks would perhaps say].

Okay….that is amazing. It almost looks like something David Marks would create. Whatever troubles you had during the creation of this piece do not show, at least in your photos. WOW!!!
