Making and Mastering Woodenplanes by Finck describes making Krenov style, 3 piece planes and how to use them. Hock, (plane iron mfgr.) also sells a really good plan That is a real beauty.

As far as the pattern, you don't need one. Thats the great part about making the hand plane, you can design it anyway you want. When it starts playing one of David's shows, there is a small box at the top left that states "Search Videos". Type "handplane" in that box and it will bring up the Woodworks show where David made one. Thats all you need, there are no "special" requirements. Any questions, just ask. I would be happy to help.
