This is an awesome interview with Norm Abram. I know I occasionally poke fun, but Norm really is a huge influence. You can’t deny what he has done for the hobby. Its great to see him out of the shop.

Norm’s the last person I’d poke fun of………..I was really impressed with his tiger maple highboy. Looking forward to the interview you did with David Marks.

I happened to be standing right there while the interview was shot … but with all the background noise of the show I couldn’t hear a thing Norm and Steve were saying. Microphones are wonderful things!

Thanks for the link. I especially enjoyed the Scott Philips’ interview and look forward to seeing new American Woodshop programs. It was interesting when asked both Norm and Scott which 3 tools they felt were most important if starting over in woodworking. Norms’ first tool mentioned was the table saw, then jointer, then thickness planer. Scott’s first tool mentioned was the woodworking bench, then table saw, then a good carbide blade for the table saw. Its Scott’s generous use of hand tools and his healthy dose of mixing power with hand tools that I really like.

Great interview. Would love to keep Norm working to show me everything I need to learn, but realize we all have to retire sometime. Thanks all for a great site and wish you all the best.

I just watched the interview with Norm. It was nice to hear someone in his own words who has inspired you. The interview gave Norm a more human “face” rather than a celebrity. One question that was asked made me wonder though…God forbid the day the NYW retires Norm. Maybe Marc Spagnuolo could be the Jay Leno (Johnny’s successor) to the NYW?? You are able to grow a beard and wear plad arn’t you??

I keep getting a DNS lookup error when I click on Norm’s interview link. Anybody else having this problem?

There are many people reporting problems Claude. Unfortunately, other than making sure you have the latest updates for your browser, Im not sure what you can do.

The DSN problem is that your Internet provider is not translating the site name to the correct ip address. Try using the IP address direclty by typing the following url:

    http://63.218.41.203/index.html?showid=282533

I’m not sure if this will work but is worth a try.

Thanks for posting the link. Great interview! He is so darn nice that it’s impossible not to like Norm. I know he has to retire someday, but hopefully not anytime soon.

Wish I could meet him some day… and you, too, Marc! :-)

I have been very lucky to meet Norm twice and he has always taken time to chat when he wasn’t busy, before he retires I would love to see him put together a show of his bloopers, well at least I hope he has made some mistakes building projects.

Thanks also for posting the link, I enjoyed the interview.

Well Thanks Jorge but that didn’t work for me. I guess hughesnet isn’t going to work for this link which is a shame because I really did want to listen to it. Although I am confounded by it because everything else works on this site. Claude

Got something to say?
