November Wood Whisperer Giveaway

November 6, 2007 | Filed Under Blog

We have another Wood Whisperer Giveaway this month! This time, our sponsor is one of my favorite finishing companies in the industry, General Finishes. They have supplied us with a sample pack containing numerous waterbased finishes, glazes and stains. Thinking about getting into waterbased finishes? This is a great way to get your feet wet! Check out the picture below to see exactly what you’ll get.

General Finishes

Remember, if you’ve already entered one of our Wood Whisperer Giveaways in the past, you do not need to enter again. And sending multiple entries in does nothing more than annoy Nicole when she is organizing the names for each drawing. Now if this is your first time, you can enter by sending us an email at TWWPromo@gmail.com and you will be good to go. Good luck everybody and be sure to head on over to General Finishes and take a look at all the great products they have to offer. Enjoy!

Nice. I like Water based stains. One just has to be careful about using them on veneered pieces. If the veneer is not bonded tightly to the substrate, they veneer may wrinkle or bubble.

The positives are more than numerous though: Dries in like a third of the time, Very little odour, more coats in less time, costs less than oil finishes in most cases, and easily sanded for recoating!

    Nice, thanks again.

    Dear Marc & Nicole,
I appreciate that postage costs mean that it isn’t possible to offer the giveaways to those of us that do not live in the good ol’ US of A. However, the next time you have a small / lightweight prize how about letting us enter ( or better still having a seperate draw for us - better chance of winning! :-) )
If not i suppose we’ll just have to be satisfied with all the other great stuff on the site - keep up the good work!
    Brian

    Dear Nicole,
Enclosed, please find the first box of post cards with my name and email address on them. Please use them at the rate of 2 per day to enter me into this month’s drawing. *Hat tip* Thanks, ma’am!

Am I just not looking hard enough? Does General Finishes (”GF”) have a water-based gel type stain…?

The GF web page reads that its a thicker formula, so is that a gel?

At this point, from what I’v been reading and seeing, water based stains aren’t so bad and actually dry faster?

LOL I was reading through the entries today wondering what was going on and then Marc clued me in on what he said in the post. I want to assure all of you, you are not annoying me by entering by accident a second or third time :) I’m very happy we do contests like this and sorting through the entries once a month is a small price to pay for the smiles on your faces :) Good luck everyone!

So…first off. I am a new listener/viewer. Love what you are doing. My question is, once I sign-up for the give-a-way, do I sign up each month? or is one entry good “forever”? Thanks!

    I’d love to enter the monthly drawing…but I can’t seem to find a link…

The key to entering this contest is a secret mystery, hidden deep within this post toward the end of the second paragraph. ;)

I was dubious about Water-based Poly, but now, after a few real successes, I am a convert from the oil based products. Haven’t used a brush (or cleaned one) in a long time either.
