New and Improved Webcam- Streaming Video

May 2, 2007 | Filed Under Blog

Maybe I am just a geek, but I get super excited about new technology. And if I can find a way to use that technology to enhance The Wood Whisperer podcast and website, you can bet Im gonna do it! As many of you know we have a webcam that takes pics every 15 seconds. Well, I just recently heard about a website called Ustream.tv that actually serves as a vehicle for streaming video. So I figured, what the heck. Lets give it shot. Its working flawlessly for me right now. I am getting both streaming video AND audio. This is way better than a static picture. So hopefully this company will stay in business for a while so we can have fun with this new technology. So, until the next podcast, ENJOY THE SHOW!!!

Holy crap Marc! This is very cool. As the shirt says, you are a Legend.

I’m taking bets on what Marc’s favorite curse word is. Any takers?

Q: What do you call a lumberjock that’s a Geek??

    A: The Wood Whisperer:)

    Very cool man!! Very Cool!

I just noticed that while I was pointing the finger 3 of them were pointing back at me?? I confess, yes I too have a PC in the shop:)

You must be quite an extrovert. Shop time is when I get my best alone time to pick my nose or whatever… It IS cool though

That’s right Marc. No picking your nose:)!

Also, what about music. I like to jam while I’m in the shop. My wife doesn’t like most of my music….Go figure!

You guys will see it all: nose picking, bad music, burping, cursing when I mess up. :)

The gears are turning and I am thinking about something like a live demo. I wonder how much interest there would be in that.

Seems that the either the super nylon, phenolic, or UHMW (whatever that fence was made of) is not worth it. I can see why you be frustrated by having it dead straight using your veritas straight edge. Shimming and shimming.

Use high-pressure plastic laminates for a fence. I think it is easier and less time consuming! One other thing. How come we never see you use your new LS1214FL slider. Do a pod cast on your new slider!!!…

considering the pencil used in prior episodes… I’m going with “barnacles” as the favorite curse word of our dear wood whisperer!

  10. thewoodwhisperer on May 2nd, 2007 8:32 pm

LoL. Either barnacles or fish paste. :)

The SCMS will definite make future appearances. No worries.

And I totally agree about the UHMW surface. That stuff just isnt the best option for fences.

This is going to be very “The Truman Show” like, and I thought all those people in the movie were a bit odd for watching even when nothing was happening….now I understand the addictive nature of it all!!

Got something to say?
