My First Popular Woodworking Column
Many of you already know from a previous post that I am now writing a column for Popular Woodworking Magazine. The column is cleverly titled, “The Wood Whisperer” and will feature thoughts, ideas and techniques from little old me. I am also doing a videos that will accompany each article and will be featured on the Popular Woodworking site. The August 2008 issue just hit the newsstands and is available NOW. So if you haven’t seen it already, head out and pick up a copy. The first column/video demonstrates numerous tricks and tips using blue tape. You can check out the video in the Popular Woodworking Video Player under the Skills category. And while you’re there, check out all the other great videos that are available. I have to admit that I had no idea they had so many videos posted! Interested in subscribing to Popular Woodworking? You can do so here. Just got my copy in the mail last night. Wow, you’ve come a long way in a very short time. Congratulations; it is well deserved!
I could write a novel on things NOT to do with blue tape. I’ve had my share of bone-headed ideas that didn’t work out.

i just picked up the magazine today. great job. jeeze i remember when you were just putting out your fifth or so video. its amazing all the stuff you have your hand in now and what you are doing. i think you may have replaced christopher schwarz as the new oprah of wood working.
Replace the Schwarz? Sheesh, tell him that and his head will swell too big to fit inside that little video screen! LOL!

First, you set a new standard of excellence with The Wood Whisperer. Then, a few months later you gave us Wood Talk Online. And now, you’ve become a columnist with Popular Woodworking. Not bad at all for a microbiologist turned woodworker!
What’s next? Discovering the cure for cancer? Or a way to make gasoline out of sawdust? I can’t wait to see what’s next!
