“I needed a teacher, a mentor that could help get me going. Fortunately, I found Marc Spagnuolo at thewoodwhisperer.com. Here is a guy that really knows how to teach. He shows every step in the process, not just the highlights. He gives really detailed plans. He patiently explains the traps, the problems you are likely to encounter. He doesn’t pull any punches about how hard something is going to be. And he’s willing to admit and show his mistakes. In short, his teaching style for woodworking is exactly what I try to do with my teaching style for poker.”

How exactly does a
Guild Build work?
Before each build, you will receive a packet containing a detailed SketchUp plan and a project cut list. During the build, we will release one video per week covering a specific part of the project in detail. We will also have live meetings and demonstrations where you can get answers to your questions and interact with your fellow Guild members. And if you aren’t interested in a particular Guild project or you just don’t have time to build it, don’t worry. You do NOT need to build along in order to enjoy this membership. Previous builds will be available in the archive for you to download and view at your leisure.
Each project is unique so the length will vary.
“I am a guild member because the value by far exceeds that of any other woodworking media subscription. Marc’s unique presenting style adds entertainment as well as superior education, something unseen in the woodworking industry. The quality of each video is higher than most woodworking DVDs and the sense of community and camaraderie is priceless! 1 and a half thumbs up!”

Projects Available As Part Of Your Membership!
Greene & Greene Adirondack Chair
Number of Videos: 16 (Over 5.5 hours!)
Think you know what Adirondack Chairs are all about? Think again! The Greene & Greene Adirondack Chair breathes new life into this summertime classic. The chair is not only comfortable, but the elegant Greene & Greene details will immediately grab your attention. This project will challenge your skills, while reinforcing classic joinery methods as well as those specific to the Greene & Greene style.
Wall-Hanging Cabinet
Number of Videos: 14 (Over 6.5 hrs!)
This series is really two projects in one. First, there is a beautiful solid wood version featuring classic dovetail case construction, frame & panel doors, a dovetailed drawer and knife hinges. Second, there is the plywood version constructed with pocket screws. The piece is adorned with an attractive shop-made molding and represents a more practical and cost-effective design. Regardless which version you build, your hard work will be rewarded with a classically elegant cabinet that would be at home in the bathroom, office, or even the shop!
The Chest of Drawers
Number of Videos: 13 (Over 6.5 hours!)
At first glance, the Chest of Drawers may appear to be a rather advanced project. But you will be surprised at how easy it is when you see all the steps laid out in a sensible order. We provide enough detail in this series that even an absolute beginner can successfully make this project. Frame & panel design, dust frames, template construction, drawer fitting, and finishing. This project has it all! To help inspire you, I also cover alternative tools, techniques, and designs as we proceed through each phase of the project.
The Shaker Table
Number of Videos: 7 (Over 5 hours!)
The Shaker Table defines beauty and simplicity. This classic design will help you hone your skills in numerous areas including mortise and tenon joints, tapered legs, and hand-cut half-blind dovetails just to name a few. In this video set, I show two versions of the table build. One primarily focused on power tools and a second primarily focused on alternative and hand tool methods.
But don’t take it from me. Here’s what some of our guild members have to say…
“I’m a serious beginner and I joined the Guild this year wanting to build a summer project and learn how to use my tools safely. In the past I’ve taken a couple of classes to help me learn, but they tend to throw you in the deep end and hope that the instructor can get around to helping you. Or they show you the basics of how to set up a tool, but not how to do a whole project. The Chest of Drawers project fit the bill. I’ve found the videos and the support of my fellow guilders invaluable. I’ve also been able to work through problems/questions with helpful support of Marc. My Chest of Drawers is coming together nicely and I’m much more confident with my tools now that I know how to use them safely.”
Marilyn – Member since June 2010
“The chest turned out beautifully and I learned a lot. I especially appreciate that you include a lot of information on in-between steps, like fitting drawers, that you might not get from other woodworking resources. Given how little time that I actually have to spend in the shop, I can’t really afford to learn these things on my own by an extensive process of trial and error. These sorts of pointers and tips are invaluable to me. A Guild membership is a bargain for this kind of content.”
Kevin Scott – Member since August 2010
“There is nowhere else, whether it be in the virtual world or real world, where you will find more value for your woodworking education dollar than on the Guild site. I am always completely amazed that Marc offers so much in the way of extra videos, Guild chats, guild builds, special guest interviews and of course the guild builds for such a relatively low price. And it is not only educational, inspiring and motivating, but entertaining in Marc’s unique style of teaching. As Marc knows , I often feel guilty paying such a low price for all his hard work, because I get so much out of it. I can honestly say my guild membership is my most well spent woodworking dollars.”
David Taragin (runningwood) – Member since December 2008
“I would recommend this site to any beginner or intermediate woodworker who wants to take their craft to the next level or to an expert who simple wants to stay sharp. Marc takes the time to deliver clear instructions and alternate construction methods/options for any skill level. Join now, you won’t regret it for a minute.”
Clayton Whisman – Member since July 2010
“I am new to woodworking and have just set up a small workshop for myself….The only thing is ‘where do I start’? I live on a small Island (Isle of Man) in the Irish sea between England and Ireland and there are zero training facilities for me, All I have is magazines, youtube and expensive plane tickets for courses in the UK. The answer to this is simple, The Wood Whisperer Guild! This is the best discovery I have made, It’s like having your own 1:1 tutor right there in your shed!”
Alan Presford – Member since September 2010
“The Woodwhisperer Guild is unique in that it is like other woodworking shows on steroids. Clear and concise is an understatement. Where other shows complete a project in 30 or 60 minutes, projects are covered in great detail … over 6 hours of great content on the last build in addition to the Charles Neil project as well as great interviews! Not only is the guild a great deal in terms of the eduactional value, but the exclusive discounts just about pay for the annual membership.”
