Growing Pains
No, not THAT Growing Pains! I’m talking about our website! Many of you probably noticed the outage yesterday. As it turns out, our traffic is proving to be too much for our shared server. Between all the new visitors and the Guild, things are growing far beyond our expectations. So I am immediately migrating over to a new server that will allow for our current and future growth. Fortunately, there shouldn’t be much in the way of an interruption on the site (unless traffic spikes again). Unfortunately, I have a lot of work ahead of me. So wish me luck. And just remember, “As long as we got each other, we got the world spinning right in our hands…..”

I’m curious – So who are you hosting your webserver through?
GoDaddy
So are you moving to a dedicated server?
I’m just guessing, but I would assume that TWW was already on a dedicated server, and now it’s going to have to move to a cluster.
I did this for work last year, the hits on are blog out grew what anyone server could handle so we set it up on a cluster.
Yeah Marc, I loved Go Daddy ,
Danica doesn’t hurt either, but they have had some bad reviews in the last few years…. I use Inmotion and they seem to be doing a great Job.

marc : these are the kinds of problems that one will only be too willing to take care of, i.e. happy problems. I’d rather have you solving serious traffic issues than not having any traffic at all.
congratulations on the growth.
Tim
I guess that explains that TWW was the one site out of several sites that I go to that has been loading very slowly over the last few weeks. Thanks for all your hard work Marc, and for being there for us.
Well good luck my friend. I hope the website continues to grow! You’re an internet force to be reckoned with!
Maggie Seaver was a hot mom. Thanks for posting a picture of a show my sister used to make me watch when I was a kid. Damn you Kirk Cameron!
Actually .. Congratulation on outgrowing your server! ..
Hopefully this a sign of the times to come and of a success future for you.
I’m hoping that you outgrow “many a server” in your future!
Joe
I have been coming here for years… love the website. Have you heard of Dreamhost? Unlimited bandwidth! No joke! http://dreamhost.com/
I was about to recommend Dreamhost too.
Good Luck with the new server.
So are we going to be seeing you in a “Go Daddy” style commercial instead of Danica Patrick ?

And the stock would plummet immediately! lol
Dude,
You really are funny. Are you from South, Central or North Jersey? If it is central or north I know you were watching the re-runs on WPIX channel 11 each night! Congrats man!
Heck yeah! lol. I was born and raised in Trenton. That’s about as central as you can get. :)
That’s a relief I thought that my boss is putting the crack down on me.

Don’t suppose we could get Traci Gold to guest blog here?
way to go! Problems of prosperity are the ones you want to have.
Congrats Marc on the growth!!!! I actually used to work at GoDaddy.com! They’re a great company (huge too which means they’re probably gonna be around for a long time!) Good luck with the migration and all that that entails.
My boy is from Trenton, I used to train him and we spent time selling in Trenton, Philly Bucks county etc! I am from Poughkeepise! Did you get channel 11 down there? I made comment about the edited version of the Breakfast club on your moving video,…>Smoke up Johnny! If you saw the channel 11 version of the movie, well it was pretty funny…..
Congrats on the traffic :). You’re the 128kth most popular website on the internets, according to Alexa.
If you’re picking out a dedicated server.. Please try to avoid GoDaddy and 1&1. They’re just terrible. I personally had many years of good experiences with LayeredTech, though the company has changed a lot over the years and are a little bit more expensive.
Ahh yes! The mythical seemless migration.
I might actually get some woodworking done for a few days if the site is down! Congrats Marc, keep up the good work.
