Just before we moved out of our old house, I received a complimentary set of tools from Grand Slam Tools. I figured you guys would like to see them for yourself. Grand Slam Tools is a small company run by fellow podcaster Tommy MacDonald. Their initial offering of products include high quality wooden marking gauges, baseball bat mallets, and paring blocks. You can buy the items separately or in a 4-pack to save a few bucks. Check out all their offerings at:

Grandpa is rolling over in his grave…..how dare you expose his relationship with Mr. Holt!!!!! LOL
Busted!
Yo Marc yours didnt come with a note well Tommy sent me a special note and it hurts me to say it he goes go sox screw the yankees but the yankees are in first place now so I dont really care what boston boy has to say about it lol
Marc,
Way cool you promoting a fellow woodworker! As a proud owner of the 4-pack, I can tell you without hesitation that you will be very satisfied.
Have fun with them.
OK, I’m starting a pool: how long before Tommy gets a Cease and Desist letter from Major League Baseball for that logo? ;)
Cool tools. ‘can’t decide whether I like the mallet or the marking gauge better.

Great review. I agree with Eric’s comment, kudos promoting a fellow woodworker. I have a 4-pack as well and really like the heft and balance of the mallet. The marking gauge is sweet . . . nice crisp lines with that Hock blade.
Good luck with the new shop!
Best Regards,
David
Very cool kit there Marc. Pitty there so little effort put in by the tool suppliers in Aust…..
Super cool. I followed his Secretary project relentlessly… though it seemed to be cut off right at the end. But it’s good to know that he has another site, and another venture with the tool business. I’ll have to check those out.
Thanks for letting us know about these!
Marc,
Nice preliminary review of the MLW Four Pack. Okay, I’m going to gloat… I got the four pack with the EBONY marking gauge. Yes, it’s all as sweet as it looks. I felt a twinge of angst when I used my bench bat to chop out some waste knowing that it would leaves dings after hitting the metal caps of my old Sears Bench chisels.
Finally, you made this other Jersey guy proud with your sincere review and support of Tom MacDonald and his MLW. I would love to see you guys collaborate on a project that we can all learn from.

Nice review Marc. It would be great if somehow / someway
Tommy could get MLB to endorse the bats and allow him to embose a team logo onto the bat!
Thanks again for the great review.
I’ve watched every one of Tommy’s episodes, he has incredible skill and talent. How long did he spend hand shaping the side of the Bombay, or selecting the proper board for the step stool?
I just don’t know what to think any more. Grand Slam Tools? Bench Bat? “Dug Out” paring blocks? This is something I would expect to get with a magazine subscription not from an artist such as Tommy MacDonald.
As someone else mentioned, I can’t see Major League Baseball being OK with the name or logo.
