Camera’s in the Shop!
December 17, 2007 | Filed Under Blog
So I was planning on editing the footage for the next video today, and much to my disappointment, my camera started acting up on me. So its off to the repair center for a couple of weeks. You realize what this means, don’t you? It means no new recorded footage and no editing of the recently acquired footage until that camera comes back! YIKES! We were planning on buying a new “pro-sumer” level camera in the new year anyway, but at this point in time we just aren’t able to plunk down the cash. Once you go beyond the $1000 high-end consumer level stuff, the prices rise dramatically! So unfortunately, I will not be using this repair time as an excuse to get the new unit. But man is it tempting!
Now, I do have one video in the hopper, which I will release soon, and that’s it. So until the camera comes back I will be posting two questions and two projects each week in an attempt to fill the void. And Christmas is right around the corner so this is probably the best time for something to go wrong with the equipment. Anyway. Thanks for your understanding.

Got something to say?

Darn it… Hopefully it’s not messed up too bad.
Wait, I have an idea. A nationwide tour called “Wood Whisperer LIVE” where you can do your thing live. You can even start in Minnesota! :-) Heck, I’d even settle for a live re-enacting of “Crunchy French Toast.”
Good luck with the repairs. We will be here patiently waiting.
I’m really sorry to hear about the camera. I’m going to go into WW video withdrawal and it is not a pretty sight. Maybe you can do an extra WTO show to help us addicts?
We should start a “Get the Camera” money drive so that you can get the camera sooner. How much does a new camera cost anyway? We just need one of those money thermometers to get things going. :)
If you’re thinking of the type of camera *I* am thinking of, you’re looking to spend something like $3000, right? Best of luck to you there. Those are pretty sweet though. Entire motion pictures have been shot on those, and folks didn’t even know it was video.
Hope the camera is up and running soon…mostly for selfish reasons :D
I’m sorry to hear about the camera too. Maybe it’s time we all took this opportunity to hit that “Contribute” button once again. ‘Tis the season to give….
Marc, you’re still the best, man!
Yeah we would be here for a while doing a money drive. lol. Tomcat is right about the money. The one we are looking it is right around $3000. But obviously that is a our business expense and not something for you guys to bear. I do appreciate the sentiment. The thermometer thing sounds hilarious though.
Sorry to hear about the camera, Does exposure to wood dust have anything to do with malfunction ? If so, you may want to think about some sort of camera housing for the next one. I will contributing to the “camera fund” later today.
BTW , I noticed the “extra reading” section has disappeared, I enjoyed seeing what you suggested and always found it interesting and I think others in the chat have agreed. Please bring it back.
The Extra Reading section is still there. It looks like Google is having trouble this morning. I checked out other sites that use the same widget and their’s is down as well.
What about a “reverse thermometer”?
You could put up a clamp and every $$$ makes it turn. When you have enough for the camera, we will all see a little squeeze out! More appropriate than a thermometer but keeps the same theme.
And then we can argue whether to scrape the dried glue or wipe it with a wet sponge like Norm. :-P
Marc, if you can’t treat your toys with respect, I’m gonna have to put them up. Bummer about the camera. How ’bout a Crunchy French Toast Breakfast Drive. That’ll generate lotsa income after the insulin shock kicks in!
