This is a long clip from our new website feature, Demo Night. The topic was sharpening options. This live, interactive demo took place on our Wood Whisperer Live page. Everyone seemed to enjoy the new format and it looks like we will make this a regular feature. Check our Woodworker’s Calendar for upcoming demos. Obviously the audio and video are not up to the normal show quality, but this is the best we can do. Enjoy!

  4. Spiffy demo, Marc. Now I’d like to see “Blade 2: The Sequel”. In this adventure, you break out those tools you have yet to try. You can demo the diamond stones and the Veritas sharpening jig.

Also, FWW recently did a story about sharpening on a standard grinder. It would be great if you could demonstrate that method to show how well it works. I’d much rather watch you trash one of your own chisels than trash one of mine.

  6. I was at Harbor Freight the other day, and discovered that they too have a wet stone grinder system like the Tormek/Jet. Probably like any other Harbor Freight power tool, it will sound like it is going to die, but it will do its job. At a cost of $100 it is hard to pass up. I kind of wish I didn’t buy a Norton water stone kit.

  8. Sorry about the issues with the Flash version. Blip.tv is crapping out on me so bear with me until then. For now, if you have a good internet connection, you can right click on the download links and download the video directly to your computer for viewing. I apologize for the inconvenience.

  10. HI Marc
I am also having difficulty with the clip.
I cannot open it after I download it.
Is there a player I need other than windows media?

  12. Hey Richard. The downloadable version will require Apple Quicktime to play. They are .mp4 files.
