Demo Night 7/8/08
So if you missed Demo Night last night, you missed A LOT! I started by discussing polyurethane durability and glue shelf life and showed some interesting examples of both. I then gave a little feature review of the Festool Kapex. And finally, I showed off the sweet lumber I just received for the upcoming Gadget Station. I then got into a discussion about mail order lumber and the company I have been working with lately, Bell Forest Products. And this is just a small sample of the session that ran about 2 hours and hosted nearly 100 people.
And please excuse the camera work. I pretty much did the best I could by myself. You should notice much improved video and audio though, so that’s a good thing. If you want to attend future Demo Nights, just check the Calendar periodically for updates.

Hey Marc -
Sorry I couldn’t attend the demo last night (had a concert to go to) but thanks for the quick post of the highlites. You’re right about Bell Forest Products – thier web site is very user friendly!

Woodworkers!
Thanks for checking us out. We are a small family-owned business in Northern Michigan. With your suggestions, we hope to make the best place online to buy wood from all around the world.
Take Care.

Bell Forest Products
Good demo night. Also thanks for the heads-up on a good online dealer. My closest local dealer is about 45 minutes away and truth be told doesn’t have the greatest prices. So being able to order up some lumber and just have it show up on my doorstep is ideal. Just gotta hope that the shipper doesn’t decide to fork lift the box.
I’ve not been around on Wednesdays–looks like I’ve been missing a lot. Really enjoyed this clip, and dang, the sound is great–MUCH improved. New equipment?
Hi Marc. Because of the time difference I often miss the live shows. Are there any plans to make them available for download?
I just added the low res download link for you. I haven’t added the video to our iTunes feed though, because I wasn’t sure if this is the type of thing that belongs in the feed. Still undecided there. But that download link should work for you now. Good luck.
And no new equipment Shari. Just using the old equipment differently. Its always a balance of quality vs. convenience. Many times, convenience wins when it comes to the live stuff.
Marc,
Love the summary video! I don’t have the time right now to stay for a two hour demo with an 18-month old to look after, but I got a LOT out of the edited version. (And frankly, it had a nice pace to it…)
Best regards,
~Peter
Thanks for that Marc. I realise you probably don’t see this material as your prime time stuff. But die hard fans don’t like to miss a second ;) I’ll look forward to future live recordings.
Since I missed the first 45 mins, thanks for going back over the Kapex. Although, my CMS has many of the same features, none work as well. Maybe someday there’ll be a freak accident that takes mine out, then I can get the Kapex.
Loved the summary. Camera work, sound etc. is nice, but it’s content that matters…and this stuff is great! Most of the woodworking shows blast through a 3 month project in about 25 minutes, it’s almost impossible to absorb information that fast. Watching gobs of Titebond drip out – now that’s a good pace :-)
