About
My name is Marc J. Spagnuolo. I’m a professional woodworker, podcaster, video producer, and contributing editor for FineWoodworking.com and Popular Woodworking Magazine. Producing the Wood Whisperer is a great way for me to combine three of my passions: woodworking, technology, and education.
The Woodworking:
My company, The Wood Whisperer, Inc. is based out of Phoenix, Arizona. I focus primarily on studio furniture, but I frequently get requests for standard cabinetry, commercial work, and refinishing. I started woodworking as a hobby and read every book and magazine I could. I also took a few classes here and there. And the pinnacle of my training was my short-term apprenticeship with my good friend and mentor David J. Marks.
The Technology:
I am a Mac enthusiast and I create all of my podcasts using Final Cut Studio, GarageBand, and my Mac Pro. My video camera is a Canon XH-A1 and my microphones are Shure SM-11’s for the lavalier mics and a Blue Bluebird for Wood Talk Online and voiceovers. Our lighting setup consists of two light boxes from Steve Kaeser Lighting and Accessories, although we rarely use these in our videos.
The Education:
A large part of my business involves woodworking education and instruction. Most of my classes are taught in my workshop, and I periodically travel to teach at other schools and give seminars. But my primary focus these days is providing education through both video and audio podcasting.
