AWFS Happenings
Well, we are headed down to the show floor to see what we can see. In addition to our normal filming, we’ll be taking short video clips and uploading them to YouTube immediately. The widget below will let you keep up to date with the latest. By the way, the Youtube account associated with the widget below is my personal account. So if you dig deep enough you’ll find some goofy “domestic” videos that have nothing to do with The Wood Whisperer. Just so’s you know!
Oh and tomorrow around 4pm Eastern, Matt and I are going to record a Wood Talk Online episode from the show. We will try to stream it live, if everything works out. So stay tuned for that.

Marc, great videos so far! I was wondering if you’d be able to get more shots of the Freshwood Competition? My buddy, Ty Heiserman from Rockville, MO, has a table entered in it and I haven’t been able to see it yet. What an awesome talent and what an experience that would be for high school student!
Can we eavesdrop live on the WTO recording?
flux capacitor…. I laughed
Great stuff, can’t wait to see more. Bench cookies look cool. Are you shooting all of this with the 3GS or a “real” camera?
Hey Shannon. It was actually all the 3gs today. Pretty decent from a little camera.
Hey Marc! What was that Kreg tool you showed? A mortis and tenon table?
It was the Beaded Face Frame Jig. I got a whole demo on it for you guys.
I can’t understand why there were no promotions about all the great woodworkers who would be there. A few months ago, I wanted to arrange a trip to Las Vegas with a friend. But we couldn’t find any interesting information about the event. The AWFS web page just listed some boring business lectures presented by nobody we had ever heard of.
I should have gone anyway! I’m wondering if the 40% reduction in attendance has something to do with the lousy promoting this go ’round. Maybe a lot of people couln’t find any compelling reason to attend. “No Norm? Why bother?”
Norm is here on Friday. We also so Marc Adams but I’m not sure he is here with a company.
Matt – Watch that … we don’t do a lot of hugging in Musk!
Great stuff! You guys finally meet! I am looking for some great stuff today Marc. Thanks for doing this.
Marc,
Are the dust collection pipes I see in the “industrial area” shot working there? Or is it just display?
Mike
Most are fully functional. Some of these guys are producing a LOT of dust.
What kind of belt sander race it that? You’re supposed to *RIDE* your belt sander!
Marc,
Not sure if you’re still at the show but someone from my area has a fancy woodworking bench as part of the Steel City booth. It is part of a cabinet saw.
Have you seen it?
Thx,
Norman
Sorry, we missed it Norman. We buzzed by the Steel City booth a few times but didn’t really explore the booth. Sorry my friend. I did catch another fancy bench here:
