78 – David Marks Gallery Tour
Download High Resolution
David Marks finishes up his tour with a review of his wood boiling apparatus (used for drying out turnings), and his art gallery. The gallery contains many beautiful pieces by David as well as other amazing woodworkers. David caps off the tour by showing us his skills on the drums! And believe it or not, we have a few outtakes!
Also, David recently released his Scrapers DVD. It contains everything you need to know to properly sharpen card scrapers, cabinet scrapers, and gooseneck scrapers. I watched the DVD a few weeks ago and I instantly felt like I was watching a new episode of Woodworks (only more REAL!) You can pick the DVD up here.

Hey Marc!
Dave’s stuff is too cool. Seeing this and your stuff REALLY makes me regret not getting into woodworking when I was in high school.
I’ve still got the itch, but now, not so much time. Thanks for letting me live vicariously through ya.
later bro!
Nice interview! It’s fun to watch people that take woodworking to a whole different level.
I’m disappointed the 55 gallon drum didn’t have a gilded, patina finish.
Seriously, that was yet another great installment. Thanks, Marc.
And David is pretty good at spanking the plank. Those simple licks would be unachievable by most heavy metal drummers. (Neil Peart excluded.)
I think it very cool a man as talented as he is can be such a humble person. He is the real thing!
I’m a big fan of this guy and I haven’t even seen Woodworks! I’m off to order his DVDs Please ask him to get woodworks on DVD. ;)
Awesome man.Keep it up…
FYI, David can’t do anything to get Wood Works on DVD. The show is owned by Scripps and they control it completely. David told me he has asked Scripps about releasing the show on DVD and they are simply not interested.
Thanks for the info Germain. It’s a real shame.
It must be great doing something that you love. I suspect Dave’s artistic talent is just a bonus. Cheers
David has been a friend for many years. You’ve done a good job of capturing the essence of the man. I’ve actually taught a class at David’s shop so I was pretty familiar with the setting and we’ve shared shop space at other craft schools. He’s a great guy and you’ve produced a very entertaining video.
And I’ve been a student of Malcolm’s at David’s shop. And what these two do with their minds and with their hands will propel me in my next career (retired aspiring intermediate hobbyist woodworker) to great things that I can only imagine at this time. I am blessed to have witnessed the “Greats” doing their stuff!!
Hey Mark,
I’m Just kinda venturing into woodworking. Just found your podcast and I’m learning all sorts watching it. Way better than anything on TV. One thing I’d really like to learn is inlays. I got a general idea about how it’s done, but I’m sure there’s hundreds of things to keep in mind and different options to go with. Maybe you could do an episode on that, called “Inlays the Game”…or not. Anyway love the podcast, keep it up.
