I stopped in to Woodwerks last Friday for my yearly pilgrimage. My only complaint about the store is that it's impossible to leave without putting a dent in your credit card!! That $2800.00 Kreg clamping table sure was calling my name.

That's a nice unit, for sure. But make sure you get your hands on one first before buying. That router is very heavy and very large. So if you are looking at the Festool line, consider the OF1400.

I can't really recommend a specific brand, since many of them will do just fine. But if you could only have one router, I would recommend a plunge base for the most versatility.

ahh If I only lived closer to ohio. Its just a long drive from Los Angeles. As a teenager in wood work I have to deal with a lot of crap at woodwork stores. I dread the routine trips to rockler, woodcraft and the like. First off, The salesmen are one of three types. There is the kind who assumes you know nothing and wants to be your teacher... "The first step in using a miter saw is pulling this trigger." Next up is the egotistical type... I wish i had someone like me to teach me when i was your age." finally there is the the one who assumes you know nothing, but tries to sell you stuff you don't need. One salesman even tried to sell me a pwermatic pm2000 when i was buying my first table saw. when i was in the market for chisels one tried to sell me $50 japanese chisels because the irwin/marples "wouldnt do" lol nice vid marc good luck with the new shop. cant wait to see. I too have a three car garage.

Hey Matt. I honestly have no idea how many sq. ft. the store is. But its definitely the biggest woodworking showroom I've ever seen. I am sure if you give them a call they will tell you the square footage. Here's their contact page: http://www.woodwerks.com/contact.php

What is the square footage in that store? My dad and I will be around Pomeroy for a guitar camp at the end of May, and I am trying to convince him to go up there. He's a contractor programmer, so when he's not working, he sees the money disappearing. But I am hoping that when he hears "it's 10,000 square feet!" or whatever it is, he might change his mind. Besides, we need a new jigsaw.

Marc,

Was visiting the in-laws in Dayton over the holidays and I made time to visit WoodWerks on your recommendation. What a great store! I told them you had sent me and they said quite a few folks had come by on your recommendation. I will make it a regular stop whenever we are up there.
